Mayo Clinic Reveals Results of A Ground Breaking New Ecig Experiment
Patients in the study were encouraged to use the “ENDS” [Electronic Nicotine Delivery System] whenever the desire arose instead of smoking a cigarette. Daily use and behavior was recorded during the study and findings with a 30 day follow-up with patients showed 17% were abstinent from smoking, 51% planned continued use, and “average cigarette consumption decreased from 15.6 per person to 7.6 over the study period”. The study stated “use is feasible and well-accepted in surgical patients.”
This is very encouraging results and definitely fights some of the anti-tobacco and lobbyist funded movement that tries to get people to believe electronic cigarettes are either gateways to smoking or do not help existing smokers. The almost 20% number is extremely encouraging and helps prove that electronic cigarettes do indeed work.
